Moray MP Douglas Ross has welcomed an update from Scottish Gas on the works being carried out in Elgin to upgrade the area’s network.
Douglas Ross said: “Scottish Gas are warning of disruption as works get underway in Elgin this week, which are due to last several weeks and may cause some disruption.
“I hope people can be patient as these vital works, which are part of the second phase of the Scottish Gas upgrade, are completed.
“The work will be starting in the Old Lesmurdie Road area for about six weeks, then moving to Trinity Road and the Lossie Wynd area for another six weeks, with some disruption due to a three-way temporary traffic light system which will be located in Trinity Road.
“I understand that disruption to traffic in a busy place like Elgin is never welcomed but it is crucial this upgrade is carried out to ensure a safe and reliable gas supply for local residents into the future.
“Scottish Gas have also outlined their plans to complete mains replacement at the rear of Elgin High School between Hardhillock Avenue and the road leading to Mayne Farm which will coincide with the summer holidays from 28 June to 13 August.”
