Moray MP Douglas Ross said the last year has been full of ups and downs, but he is confident that 2019 will bring good things for Moray.
Douglas said: “It has been a very busy year politically, with lots happening at Westminster and Brexit dominating proceedings, but it has also been non-stop in my constituency office where the team have been able to help me handle the many cases that come through the door. These range from housing and health to postcodes and water supplies with parking, planning, defence and windfarms all featuring alongside a variety of other things.
“I have also campaigned on issues that matter to people in Moray: from agriculture and fishing to unfair delivery charges and fighting to keep local facilities such as banks in our towns.
“Working in tandem with a number of agencies and alongside my Conservative colleagues at Moray Council I have been able to help resolve issues, such as the restoration of the Portknockie to Cullen footpath which was destroyed in storms, and which the council have liaised with Sustrans to help find a resolution.
“The provision of services by the NHS in Moray, including paediatrics and the maternity unit at Dr Gray’s Hospital has also been top of the agenda, and will continue into 2019. Other NHS issues that have been brought to me include the growing and unacceptable length of patient waiting lists.
“I would like to think that I have been able to help those people who needed someone to stick up for them to have their voice heard and enabled them to make progress where their case may have reached an impasse.
“It’s been a busy 2018, and I’ve done my best to represent Moray in all my dealings in Westminster. I am expecting 2019 to be just as productive and will be working towards bringing the Growth Deal home to Moray.”
