Following a meeting held in Elgin earlier today with Professor Amanda Croft of NHS Grampian, Moray MP Douglas Ross said:
“The change to elective caesareans which are temporarily being carried out in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary rather than at Dr Gray’s was a disappointing backwards step for maternity services in Moray; but today’s update reassured me that everything is being done to reinstate this service as quickly as possible.
“Although NHS Grampian are fully committed to reinstating this service and I know everyone is working together to find a long-term, sustainable solution to this issue, patient safety must always come first.
“I reiterated the added stress and worry travelling to Aberdeen puts on expectant mums as they head into surgery for a Caesarean and how we must see this situation resolved as quickly as possible to benefit everyone involved.”
