Moray MP Douglas Ross has thanked Moray Council for resolving a road safety issue which was brought to his attention by a local resident.
Douglas said: “I was contacted by a constituent who highlighted problems with the Kinloss to Findhorn road crossing where traffic is halted when an aircraft is landing at nearby Kinloss airfield and comes in over the road.
“This crossing has seldom been used since the RAF left Kinloss but the airfield will be back in use when the new P8 Poseidon aircraft arrive at nearby RAF Lossiemouth while Lossie has its runway extended. It will also be used as a divisionary airfield, so it’s important that the crossing is fully operational for the sake of people driving between Findhorn and Kinloss on this well-used road.
“As well as there being just three rather than four warning lights, one of those was stuck on to the pole with tape. Clearly, this presented a serious safety issue and I contacted Moray Council as soon as it was brought to my attention.
“I’m happy to say the council responded to me extremely quickly and I understand they are now working with the Ministry of Defence who have asked for the warning lights to be upgraded.
